Valt Terms of Service

Valt is an independent app built and operated by one person. These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Valt. By creating an account or using Valt, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Valt.

These terms are separate from the Apple standard license agreement that covers your use of the app itself.

Who can use Valt

You must be at least 13 years old to use Valt. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use Valt with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including keeping your password secure. Use accurate information when you register. Do not impersonate anyone else or pretend to be associated with a person or company you are not.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings.

Your content

You keep ownership of the reviews, ratings, comments, profile photo, and other content you create in Valt. You give us permission to store and display that content within Valt so the service can work. For your profile photo, this includes resizing it, removing its metadata, and having it checked automatically before it is shown. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for any copy the Privacy Policy says we keep.

You are responsible for what you post. Do not post anything you do not have the right to post.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior on Valt. You may not post, upload, or share content that:

• is unlawful, or encourages unlawful acts
• harasses, bullies, threatens, or intimidates another person
• is hateful or attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any similar characteristic
• is sexually explicit, or sexualizes anyone under 18 in any way
• depicts or glorifies violence, self harm, or cruelty
• is spam, a scam, or a deliberate attempt to mislead
• infringes anyone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights
• contains someone else's private information without their permission
• contains malicious code, or attempts to interfere with, overload, or gain unauthorized access to Valt

These rules apply to profile photos too. A photo that breaks them may be removed. Every profile photo is also checked automatically before it is shown. The check may refuse a photo, including some kinds of photo the rules above do not name, and a refused photo is not used.

Reviews, comments, bios, usernames, and display names are also checked automatically before they are saved, and text the check refuses is not saved.

You also may not use automated means to scrape, copy, or bulk download content from Valt, or attempt to reverse engineer or disrupt the service.

Reporting and moderation

If you see content or behavior that breaks these rules, you can report a review, a comment, a person, or a profile photo from within the app, or email support@thevalt.app. Reports of objectionable content are reviewed and acted on within 24 hours. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account responsible may be suspended or removed.

You can block another user at any time. Blocking hides that person's content from you and prevents them interacting with you.

Suspension and removal

We may remove content, suspend an account, or remove an account entirely, with or without notice, if these terms are broken. Removing an account deletes its content in the same way deleting your own account does, and that deletion is permanent.

We may also decline to provide the service to anyone, at any time, for any lawful reason.

Game information

Game titles, cover art, and other game information in Valt come from IGDB. That information belongs to IGDB and to the rights holders of the games it describes, not to us and not to you. Your use of it is subject to their terms as well as these.

The service is provided as is

Valt is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not promise that Valt will be uninterrupted, error free, or that any content you store in it will be preserved.

Valt is not a backup service. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue Valt, or any part of it, at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of Valt. Our total liability for any claim relating to Valt will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty five US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top. If you keep using Valt after a change, you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, stop using Valt and delete your account.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
